A Letter to IMO's Clients Approaching Our 20th Anniversary

Friday, May 22nd, 2015

As IMO prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, we find ourselves at the cusp of Renaissance saw revolutions in art, religion, and politics that would forever change society. It also enabled a scientific revolution that let scholars look at the world in a different light.

The rediscovery of lost and obscure scientific texts and the increased emphasis on the study of language and the correct reading of texts led to more rapid propagation of new ideas. At the same time, Renaissance authors of paper and the invention of movable type and the printing press sped the dissemination of ideas and democratized learning.

The immediate effect was that information spread quickly and accurately. Scientists working on the same problem in different parts of Europe especially benefited, since they could print the results of their work and share it accurately with many other scientists.
The Renaissance revolutionized the way people conceive and describe the world they live in. This is what IMO enables today. Our informatics based technologies create a bridge across traditional silos, helping clinicians communicate, collaborate, understand, and leverage rapidly developing technologies to reinvent and improve many elements of healthcare. Our terminologies enable the use of vernacular allowing quick and accurate dissemination of information and ideas. We make it easy to adopt standards, creating a commodity and mechanism that enables commerce where healthcare data is the currency.

Our latest platform - IMO 2.X - is designated to be a platform for innovation, transformation, and sharing, that allows good ideas to be valued and preserved. We've put all of our assets into one platform, just like a complication in a book, to be read and used as a resource and reference. The IMO 2.X platform makes it easy to use and distribute knowledge and innovation as healthcare evolves. Our goal is to preserve and protect knowledge so that no dicovery is lost, and to enable others to build upon what we have learned as they take us into the future.

A renaissance, like the holiday season, is a time of illumination and wonder, a time for us to renew our hearts and souls to the perennial sense that life is a miraculous and wondrous gift. Thank you for all you do for healthcare. You are a light to us all.
